Good finish for the last Sunday of 2007.  The second service went well with some newish faces in attendance.
I feel hungry for fast food.
I’m tired…long day.

Good-bye 2007

Last night’s dinner cruise was fun.  What made it fun was the company.  I could’ve sat on a wall last night with the same people and still had a blast.  And thanks to Mr. Dramamine I didn’t feed my buffet dinner to the fishes.

Going on a dinner cruise with some friends tonight.  Looking forward to that except it’s been a little stormy lately.  Will remember to take my dramamine.  Even the Superferry has cancelled its runs to Maui becaue the ocean is rockin’.

Issues of pride in Zephaniah

Pride was what led to Judah’s and Israel’s destruction.  Their attitude was that they didn’t need God.
Observations of pride in Zephaniah:

Pride is prayerlessness: 1:6, they stopped seeking God’s guidance and blessing.

Pride has a price: 2:10, they will receive the wages of their pride i.e. punishment and destruction.

“Who is to blame for Israel’s rebellion?  Samaria, its capital city!  Where is the center of idoloatry in Judah?  In Jerusalem, its capital!”  What’s interesting is the capitals are blamed for Israel’s and Judah’s sin.  The capitals are the lead cities, the center of the nation’s life and function.  The capitals represent leadership.
