- Happy New Year! We celebrated with some people at the church house. Popped a bunch of fireworks. It is amazing how much people spend on fireworks. Our neighbors burnt thousands of dollars of fireworks. We did have some burn caualties which is part of the territory if you light fireworks. Everyone gets burned sooner or later. The casualties happened to my kids; Aaron was burned once by his brother on the face with a punk and then his hand by the hibachi while roasting his marshmellow. Micah burned his palm.
- Warriors got spanked by Georgia. I mean it wasn’t even close. It was pretty rough to watch. I think it gave everyone in Hawaii a reality check. Still, a great season for UH. Proud of the team.
- Excited about this Sunday. I’m having a “coffee talk” with the church and laying out the course for 2008. Nothing super new or big happening. Just the same swing of loving God and loving people but we’re going to really ramp up our community impact and service. We’re bringing in small round tables for people to sit around…give it a cafe feel.
- Having pastor Steve Murrell speak on Jan. 27 in the morning. Looking forward to connecting with him more.
- One of my resolutions for 2008 is to “enjoy the ride.” I’m really going to make an effort to enjoy the church planting experience, my family, my community, my relationship with God, the smaller things in life. I don’t want to be so uptight about things and get all moody and funky. We will still push for excellence and growth in all areas yet still enjoy ride.
